What is a Sleep Study? |
A sleep study is a safe and simple evaluation of how your body functions during sleep. It is performed by a registered sleep technician. The information collected during a sleep study will determine if you have a sleep disorder. It issimilar to having an x-ray to determine if you have a broken bone. If you do have a sleep disorder, it is important to be diagnosed and treated. Sleep disorders can contribute to other diseases as stated. What should I expect during a sleep study? |
An order for a sleep study from your health care provider is required at our facility. There are is no prep required for a sleep study. We ask that you refrain from nappingthe day of the study, bring your prescribed home medications and a list of your medications. We will be monitoring your heart rate and rhythm, oxygen saturation, breathing, sleep stages and muscle movements. |

Northeast Louisiana is an outpatient procedure. Patients normally arrive at approximately 7:30 p.m. and leave the following morning. We perform testing 7 days per week. No sedation is used during the study. Patients' take their home medications as prescribed by their doctor. You will stay in a private room. You will bring comfortable sleep clothes from home. Technicians will assist you with any ambulation or speech needs.
